Guided by an artificial search dog, we follow the route of Operation Columbia, a ten-mile motorcade of grey vehicles, moving from LA to Vancouver in 1947, promoting the ideas of Technocracy Inc. The movement of 500.000 was to turn North America into a proto-internet-society, based on technology, degrowth and equal distribution of energy.
We visit data centers, cableships and major tech companies. We deep dive into the webs infrastructure, encounter pioneers, natives, users and finally the archive of Technocracy Inc, saving loads of data from its imminent destruction. While the movement itself fell into oblivion, an internet did emerge in the stretch of land, encircled by the Technocrats.
